The Return of Virtual Barbie

It's been awhile since Virtual Barbie made an appearance. I thought it was about time she came out of hiding and modeled a little something especially since the rain is back with a drizzly vengeance here in what was sunny California just yesterday.

Barbie's look for today is a bit eclectic yet somehow she totally pulls it off. Maybe because she IS Barbie, virtual or no.

Barbie will protect her meticulously styled locks with this Rainy Day in Paris stick umbrella ($29.95).

Of course Barbie just loves this Nicole Benisti Geometric Silver and White Raincoat ($140). Very fashionable and feminine. Looks great with business attire or paired with jeans.

The Chooka Moto rain boots ($69.95) were featured in People Style Watch a few weeks ago. Love the hip, edgy motorcycle look. Barbie didn't think the heels were high enough but I told her get over it and to live on the wild side. Once she put them on, she Googled Harley Davidson and is now bidding on a 'hog' on EBay.

The Buzz is Out in L.A.Kids Magazine

A great full page spread in L.A. Kids Magazine! Almost seems like the bees are flying right off the Chooka Honey Bee rain boots to hover around the flowers.

Moto Rain Boots in People Magazine's Style Watch

Chooka is always at the cutting edge of fashion-forward rain boots. One of their latest designs, the Moto Rainpup, has hit People Magazine's Style Watch section. And of course you can buy them at DLL Rainwear.

The black Moto boot has an edgy, hip 'motorcycle dude' feel which is cranked up a notch with the silver stud 'belt' encircling the boots and the double buckles. Old Dogs CAN Learn New Tricks

Everyone has heard the adage, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." In many cases, this is indeed true if the 'dog' in question is resistant to change, which many old dogs are.

But some of us old dogs are flying in the face of this generalization.

Ever since I was little, I have HATED bananas. And when I say hated, I mean it. Wave a banana in my face and I will go all Jackie Chan on you. A karate chop to the neck is warranted if you come within 75 feet of me with a banana, especially one that's peeled. Blech.

Recently I was having a conversation with a friend about foods we hate. I expressed my boundless distaste for the banana and was coaxed (more like triple dog dared aka "A Christmas Story") into trying one.

And ya know what? They are not bad. Not bad at all. But they do have to be a little green and not all yellow and age spotty. Those still warrant a face punch.

Fast forward to last night.

I was out with friends and someone ordered an appetizer of poke (pronounced poke-ee, raw fish marinated in something that I've been told basically 'cooks' it yet it still is pink and shiny and all raw-y looking which ultimately skeeves me out.)

"Hey, Kristen, you want some poke?" someone asked handing me the plate.

"Um, yea, I don't do raw fish," I grimaced as I quickly passed the offending food onward.

The typical conversation ensued about how good it tastes, that it really isn't raw, blah, blah, blah. Been there, heard that, so ain't eating it.

And then? I was basically triple dog dared again by another very good friend.

Dammit!

So I ate that slimy looking poke with the caveat that it might come out of my mouth faster than it went in.

And ya know what?

It was pretty darn good.

Next on my list: rolling over and learning to heel.
